Top Rheumatologist Exposes the $136 Billion Secret the Medical Industry Doesn't Want Men With Gout to Know...
A gout researcher exposes the "Pill-For-Life Playbook", and the simple daily change that stopped her husband's flares, took his uric acid from 8.3 to 5.6 and brought his kidney number back up from 56 to 73 (without allopurinol and without the gout diet)

⚠️ WARNING: This page expires in 72 hours. After that, the pharmaceutical establishment wins and you stay trapped in 3 AM attacks, a kidney that loses a point a year while nobody looks at it, and a prescription for the rest of your life.
Every week for 26 years, a man with gout sat across from me and asked some version of the same question. "Doc, is it a myth that gout can go after your kidneys?"
I gave every one of them the same answer.
"Myth."
Then I watched 214 of my own patients end up in a chair 3 mornings a week, with a machine doing the job their kidneys stopped doing, and not one of them had ever been told.
I'm about to piss off every rheumatologist, every drug company, every dialysis chain, and every hospital that scores its doctors on how many gout patients they put on allopurinol.
Because what I'm about to share could cost them billions this year alone. One dialysis chair bills over $90,000 a year, and more than half a million Americans are sitting in one.
But I don't care anymore.
After 26 years of telling men with gout their numbers looked good, and then watching 214 of them end up in a dialysis chair 3 mornings a week, most of them with a uric acid number I had called controlled…
After watching my husband Greg suffer for 11 years, while his kidney number slid the same way theirs had, in a column nobody was reading…
After watching him sit in the car in the school parking lot because he couldn't walk the 200 feet to the gym to watch our son play…
After signing more than 3,800 allopurinol prescriptions in my career, and watching the man I married take one of them for 3 years, flare anyway, and quit…
After nearly losing my 24 year marriage because I kept telling him to "just take the pill" while his father's dialysis chair sat between us at every dinner…
I discovered something that changed everything.
And if you're reading this while pressing your thumb into that joint to see if it's coming, skipping the gym because every workout feels like Russian roulette with your foot, lying awake at 3 AM with your foot outside the blanket because the sheet is too heavy, or wondering what your kidneys have been doing all these years, whether you take allopurinol, quit it or never started…
The next 5 minutes could give you your life back.
My name is Dr. Rachel Hayes, MD…
I've been a board-certified rheumatologist for 26 years. For 19 of them I ran a gout research program at a university hospital in Ohio, until I stepped away from the lab last year.
I've treated more than 9,000 gout patients, published 41 papers on uric acid, and wrote the gout protocol our clinic still uses.
And I'm about to expose the dirty secret that keeps over 9 million Americans with gout trapped in 3 AM attacks and a prescription for life, while their kidneys lose a point a year in a column nobody is reading.
But first, let me tell you about the night that shattered me…
THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED...
It was 11:47 PM on Friday, February 20th.
I came downstairs because I heard the bathroom tap running for the third time that night.
I found Greg sitting on the edge of our bathtub. His right foot in a bucket of ice water for the third time since dinner. A strip of colchicine on the counter, 2 already gone. His face gray.
He was supposed to be on the bench next to Tyler's coach the next morning. Our son's state semifinal. Greg had coached him since he was 7.
Instead, he was staring at his foot like it belonged to someone else.
"I can't do this anymore, Rach," he said. "Look at it. I'm 49 years old and I can't get a sneaker on. Tomorrow Tyler plays the biggest game of his life, and I'm going to watch it on my phone from the couch."
He lifted the foot out of the water. The joint at the base of his big toe was swollen to twice its size, red and shiny and hot to the touch. He couldn't stand the weight of the towel on it.
His team polo for the game sat on the chair by the door. Folded. Unworn. Next to it, the sneakers he'd bought a full size too big a month earlier, so he'd have something to wear when it swelled.
He'd already missed his brother's 50th in January. He couldn't face a whole night standing on that foot.
That was the second thing he'd skipped in six weeks.
"Go back on the allopurinol," I said. "Greg, please. I have watched 214 of my patients go on dialysis. I am not going to drive you to yours."
"I took it for 3 years, Rachel. My number was perfect and I still flared every spring and every fall. My dad took it for 12 years with a perfect number, and he still ended up in that chair 3 mornings a week. You drove him there with me."
I did. And I knew he was right, because I had seen the same thing in my own clinic.
Joe Brennan, a mail carrier, was my patient for 9 years. His uric acid sat at 5.3 on allopurinol the whole time, and he still flared 2 or 3 times a year. "Some men just flare, Joe." At 54 he went to an urgent care with a chest infection and somebody there ran a full panel. His kidney function was 24. Every one of his kidney numbers had been sitting in his chart for 9 years, and nobody had ever put them next to each other, including me. He's on dialysis now, and his wife drives him.
He sits in that chair 4 hours at a time, 3 mornings a week, and afterward he's so wiped out the rest of the day is the couch. He gave up the route he'd walked for 22 years. He's allowed about a quart of fluid a day, and his legs still swell up between sessions. His grandson asks him to come throw a ball in the yard, and most days Joe tells him next time.
The last note I wrote in his chart before that morning says urate well controlled.
Joe wasn't the only one. Some of the others are in a grave.
One of them, Carl Mendez, a roofer, spent 3 years on the transplant list waiting for a kidney. He died at 51, still on it.
And now my husband was sitting on the edge of a bathtub with the same attacks, the same "controlled" number on the pill he'd quit, and the same kidney numbers nobody had ever put side by side.
And I just stood there.
Useless.
A rheumatologist who'd spent 19 years studying uric acid, who couldn't even help her own husband.
He'd tried everything my 26 years of training taught me:
- Allopurinol. 3 years. 100mg, then 200, then 300. His number came down to 5.2. The first 4 months gave him the worst attacks of his life, and when those calmed down he still flared 3 times a year. "Some men just flare," his doctor said. He quit.
- Colchicine. It lived in his glove box for 6 years. When it worked, it took the edge off one attack. It did nothing about the next one, and it tore up his stomach so badly he'd plan his day around a bathroom.
- Naproxen and prednisone packs. They took the attack down in a few days. And nobody ever mentioned that naproxen goes out through the same kidneys that were already losing ground.
- The gout diet. Off the pill, his number went straight back to 8.7. So he cut the beer, the red meat and the shellfish and drank a gallon of water a day. He lost 22 pounds, and the month he dropped the most, he had his worst attack of the year. His uric acid went to 8.3. 0.4 of a point.
- Cherry juice. A bottle a week from the grocery store. It's heated so it can sit on a shelf, and one cup has about 29 grams of sugar. Sugar raises uric acid.
- Tart cherry capsules. 3 different bottles from the drugstore over the years, each with a big milligram number on the front. He took each one for a month and never felt a thing.
- Apple cider vinegar, baking soda water, lemon water. Everything the gout forums swear by. His number didn't move.
Nothing worked for more than a few weeks.
The "experts" weren't any better:
His primary care doctor (one of the best rated in Columbus)? Told him he needed to go back on allopurinol "for the rest of your life" and scheduled a recheck.
A kidney doctor? He'd never seen one. Nobody sends you to a kidney doctor for a swollen toe.
The dietitian? $180 to hand him the same purine list I've handed out for 26 years.
And me? I kept telling him to take the pill.
That night, watching my strong, funny husband, a man who used to run half marathons and coach 12 year olds on Saturday mornings, sit on the edge of a bathtub with his foot in ice water the night before his son's biggest game…
Something inside me snapped.
I wasn't going to watch the man I married 24 years ago end up like his father.
I wasn't going to watch him sit in a parking lot while our son played, because he couldn't walk 200 feet.
I wasn't going to keep telling him to swallow a pill every morning for the rest of his life that didn't stop his attacks and didn't save his dad.
I was going to figure this out.
Or die trying.
THE MIND-BLOWING DISCOVERY
For the next 94 days, I lived like a woman possessed.
I read 2,147 studies. I went back through 19 years of my own lab's data. I called researchers I hadn't spoken to in a decade. I spent nights at the kitchen table with a highlighter and a pot of coffee, reading papers the public never sees.
And what I found made me want to throw my diploma in the trash.
The entire gout industry is built on a deliberate lie.
A lie that keeps you on a pill, on a food list, and coming back every 3 months for a number, while your kidneys feed a $136 billion a year business.
Here's what they don't want you to know:
Gout IS too much uric acid. Your doctor got that part right.
But it isn't too much because your body makes too much. It's too much because it isn't getting out.
Gout is an EXIT problem. The food list and the pill both work on how much comes in, and nothing you've been handed works on the way out.
Every kidney doctor in America was taught it in training. It was never taught to the doctors who treat your gout, me included.
And nobody is going to tell you.
Because the REAL cause is something so simple, so fixable, that saying it out loud would end the pill-for-life model the whole system is built on.
That's why so many men still flare on a "perfect" number.
They keep turning down the tap, and nobody ever checks the drain.
THE REAL ROOT CAUSE OF GOUT (THAT THEY'RE HIDING)
Let me break this down in terms anyone can understand:
Picture gout as a bathtub with the tap running and the drain shut.
The swollen toe, the 3 AM attacks, the number on your lab sheet. That's the water coming over the edge. It's what you see, and it's what every doctor you've ever seen has been looking at.
But the tub isn't overflowing because the tap is too strong. It's overflowing because the drain is shut.
Here's what's actually happening inside your body:
Everything I had ever told a patient to do works on one end of this. The end where uric acid arrives.
Cut the beer and less is coming in. Drop the shellfish and you take a little more off the top, and 22 pounds takes off a little more than that. Allopurinol reaches further than that whole list, because it goes inside and tells your body to stop making so much in the first place.
4 levers of increasing strength, and every one of them bolted to the same end.
In 26 years I had never once asked the other question.
Where is it supposed to go out.
Your kidneys pull uric acid out of your blood every day of your life. It is filtered, and then it is supposed to leave in your urine the next time you use the bathroom.
That is the exit.
In people with gout, the exit is shut. It gets filtered and then pulled straight back into the blood instead of leaving. Only a fraction of what is filtered makes it out of the body.
That is why you have this. Your body is not making too much of it. It cannot get rid of what it makes.
It goes around in a circle because there is nowhere for it to go.
A year of eating like a monk moved Greg 0.4 of a point, and now I knew why. It was never coming in too fast. It was never leaving.
And once it is circling there is a line, and the line is physics rather than medicine.
Above 6.8 milligrams per deciliter, uric acid cannot stay dissolved at body temperature. It comes out of solution and settles as crystal in the coldest, slowest joint you own. For most men, that's the big toe.
Get underneath 6.8 and the pile that is already packed into that joint starts going back into solution.
But the crystals only leave for good once the exit is open. If the acid can't get out of you, it goes back into the circle and settles again.
Now here's the part that should make you furious:
Allopurinol works on the other end. It turns down how much you make. The number falls, the chart looks right, and the exit stays exactly as shut as it was.
Plenty of men take it for years and still flare, and still lose a week to the toe every spring and every fall. Starting it can set off the worst attack of your life, so the same visit hands you colchicine. Two prescriptions. Still nothing for the exit.
And this is the part that scared me.
The uric acid that cannot get out is going around in a circle through your kidney. Every day, every beat, for as long as you have had this, because the kidney is the organ that is supposed to be getting rid of it and cannot.
Filtered, pulled back, filtered again. And some of it does not survive the trip. It crystallizes inside the kidney the same way it crystallizes in a toe, in the tubules, where there are no nerve endings and nothing to tell you it is happening.
Men with gout are 3.4 times more likely to die of kidney failure.
And once a man in his late 40s starts dialysis, he lives about 9 more years on average. Without kidney failure he'd have more than 30. Fewer than 1 in 4 working-age people are still working when they start.
In 2015 a research team pooled every study they could find on gout patients. About 1 in 3 already had kidney damage, and it was just getting worse.
The number that shows it is not your uric acid. It's your kidney function, and it's already on your lab sheet. Nobody puts 4 years of it side by side.
I went back through my own patient files. Out of more than 9,000 gout patients, about 1 in 3 had a kidney number sliding the wrong way. 214 went all the way to dialysis. 171 of them had a uric acid number I had called controlled.
The other 43 had quit the pill, the way Greg did, and their number had gone straight back over the line.
Not one of the 214 had ever had a kidney number put in front of them.
This is the "Pill-For-Life Playbook":
Trying to fix gout by turning down the tap is exactly like trying to empty a bathtub by staring at the faucet.
The water level might drop for a while. But the drain is still shut, and every day it stays shut the pile in your joint grows a little more, and the same circle keeps running through your kidneys.
Here's what the science now says:
1. Gout is an EXIT problem, not an intake problem.
In people with gout, the body isn't making too much uric acid. The kidney filters it and pulls it straight back. No diet sheet, and no pill that only turns down how much you make, is built to fix that.
2. Allopurinol fixes the number, not the exit.
It turns down production, so the chart looks right. But the exit stays shut, the pile in the joint never gets a clean run at leaving, and plenty of men keep flaring on a "perfect" number. Greg did for 3 years.
3. The kidney is where the circle runs.
Every day the exit stays shut, the same uric acid goes through the same filter again and again. A controlled number on a lab sheet tells you nothing about that. 171 of my 214 dialysis patients had one.
4. The exit doesn't open by itself. The problem rebuilds itself every single day.
The exit is shut every day. The pile grows a little every day you're above the line. And every day the circle runs through your kidneys again.
Then I drew Greg's blood at the kitchen table. His kidney function was 56. On his patient portal, 4 years earlier, it had been 89, and nobody had ever put the 2 numbers next to each other. A man his age should be near 99.
Under 60 is where a kidney doctor starts using the words stage 3.
Then I asked him if he'd noticed anything foaming in the toilet. He had, for about a year, and he'd blamed the cleaner I switched to. Foam is protein, and protein in your urine means the filter is leaking.
And the rest of it had been sitting in front of me. For a year he'd been asleep in his recliner before 9 most nights, and I'd put it down to 10 hour days at the dealership. He'd been getting up twice a night to pee, and I'd put that down to being 49.
In 26 years, I had never once put a man's kidney number on a screen and turned it around for him. Not one of my patients. Not my husband. Not his father.
Your toe wakes you up when something is wrong. The kidney does not. It loses a point a year in a column nobody is reading, and the first time it says anything, you are being told about dialysis.
And here's the kicker:
In 2020 the New England Journal of Medicine published a trial where they gave allopurinol to people with declining kidney function, to find out whether lowering their uric acid would slow the decline down.
It did not. No better than placebo.
The pill lowers the number. It does nothing about the exit. And every day the exit stays shut, the same circle keeps running through the kidney.
They've known this for years.
And they kept writing allopurinol anyway.
Here's how the Playbook runs, start to finish:
A diet sheet after your first attack → colchicine for the next one → allopurinol 100 → 200 when you still flare → 300 when you still flare → daily colchicine to cover the flares the allopurinol sets off → a blood pressure pill when your kidneys start to slip → a second blood pressure pill → "Some men just flare" → dialysis 3 mornings a week, over $90,000 a year → years on a transplant list → a new kidney billed at $446,800 → anti-rejection pills every day for the rest of your life, about $25,000 a year to keep that kidney working
Every step on that list sends somebody a bill. Medicare spends $136 billion a year on people with kidney disease, and one dialysis company alone took in $13.6 billion last year.
The man who refused one pill for life ends up on a handful of them for life.
It's genius, really.
If you're a sociopath.
THE INTERNAL SOLUTION HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT
Remember Greg on the edge of the bathtub with his foot in a bucket of ice water, the night before Tyler's semifinal?
12 weeks after I brought the first bottle home, I ran his kidney panel twice because I didn't believe it.
I brought it home on a Wednesday. Greg turned the bottle over in his hand and said, "Here we go again." What happened over the next 12 weeks I had not seen once in 26 years of practice.
2 capsules with breakfast, and that was the whole protocol.
The first 2 days, nothing. On the second morning I stood at the sink thinking I was a 56 year old rheumatologist who had pinned her husband's health on a capsule.
At the end of week 1, the low ache that lives in that joint between attacks went quiet. That Thursday he carried the laundry basket up from the basement, and he was at the top of the stairs before he realized he hadn't thought about his foot once on the way up.
By week 3 the warning twinges had stopped. For 11 years a twinge in that toe on a Thursday meant he spent the whole weekend waiting for it. That Saturday we walked the entire farmers market, and he only remembered to think about his foot when we were back in the car.
That same week he called me into the bathroom. He'd been checking the toilet every morning since the night I asked him, and it was clear.
In week 4 he slept from 11 to 6 without getting up once to pee, with the blanket over his right foot.
On day 30 I drew his blood myself at the kitchen table. His uric acid was 7.2, down from 8.3. 22 pounds and a year of eating like a monk had moved him 0.4, and this moved him more than a full point without him managing it 24/7.
By week 5 the swelling had gone out of the joint. One morning he put his bare foot up on the chair next to mine and just looked at it. It looked like a normal joint again. Neither of us had seen that in 3 years.
And walking had stopped hurting. At the end of a 10 hour day running the service department at the dealership, he walked out to the far end of the lot at the same speed as everybody else.
His brother came over that Sunday, the one whose 50th he'd missed. Greg stood at the grill the whole afternoon, ate a burger and drank 2 beers.
And the flare never came.
His uric acid at week 6 was 6.6, under the line for the first time since he quit the allopurinol. His kidney function was 64, up from 56, the first time it had gone up in 4 years.
By week 7 he wasn't falling asleep in the recliner anymore. He was still up at 10, talking to me in the kitchen.
At week 9 he got down on the shop floor to look under a customer's truck, a job he'd been handing to the younger guys for 2 years. He got back up without putting a hand on the bumper.
At week 12 I ran a full panel. His uric acid was 5.6, and his kidney function was 73, up from 56. Back over 60, out of stage 3.
In September he went back to running with Tyler on Sunday mornings, the thing he'd quit because every run had turned into a bet on whether he'd be walking on Monday. They did 3 miles. No sneakers a size too big, no colchicine in his pocket, no limping the last mile. And on Monday he walked into work and didn't think about his foot at all.
One of his techs stopped him in the shop that week. "You've got more energy than I've seen out of you in 2 years," he said. "What happened to you?"
Greg told him his wife had finally started working on the other end of it. The kid had no idea what he meant, and Greg didn't explain.
And somewhere in there he forgot he had gout. I mean that exactly. The only time it comes up now is when one of those posts about it shows up on his phone at night, and he reads it out to me like it's about somebody else.
Last month I booked us 4 days in Myrtle Beach for March. He said yes in the kitchen without doing the thing I'd watched him do for 11 years, the pause where he worked out what he'd tell me if he couldn't walk that week.
At the recheck his doctor had booked to put him back on allopurinol for the rest of his life, Greg handed him my 2 lab sheets. He put 89, 56 and 73 side by side on the screen and asked Greg what he had changed. Then he said, "Let's see you in 6 months." There's no date circled on the calendar anymore, and no bottle waiting for him at the end of it.
2 weeks ago I said something to him while he was doing the dishes.
"You're you again."
He asked me what I meant, and I told him he'd stopped doing the thing with his jaw.
He didn't know he had a thing with his jaw.
That's when I worked out how much of the last 11 years this had actually taken from him. And for the first time since his father went on dialysis, I stopped doing the math in my head every time he winced getting out of the car.
No allopurinol. No purine list on the fridge. No bucket of ice water.
Just one change to what was happening INSIDE his body, 2 capsules every morning with his coffee.
Something so stupidly simple, I'm embarrassed it took me 26 years and a research lab to figure it out.
To actually STOP gout, not just lower the number on a test, you need to do ONE thing:
OPEN THE EXIT, SO THE URIC ACID LEAVES, THE PILE DISSOLVES AND THE ATTACKS STOP. IN THAT ORDER.
Every day the circle runs. Your kidneys filter the uric acid, pull it back and send it around again. The pile in your joint grows. Your diet and your pill work on what comes in, long after the real problem has already happened at the exit.
The answer isn't another food you cut. It's opening the drain.
You need something specifically designed to:
- Open the exit, so the uric acid your body makes actually leaves in your urine
- Get you under 6.8, so the pile in your joint finally has somewhere to go
- Stop the circle running through your kidneys, the one nobody is watching
- Do it every day, without a prescription for the rest of your life
And guess what?
When I went looking for what actually works on the exit, everything led back to one compound. It is called cyanidin-3-glucoside. C3G, if you would rather.
It is an anthocyanin, and an anthocyanin is the deep red pigment itself. The color is the active ingredient.
And the work on it is not about what you eat or how much your body makes. It is about the part of the kidney that decides whether uric acid leaves in your urine or gets pulled back into your blood.
Anthocyanins open the exit. They help the kidney let the uric acid go instead of pulling it back, so it leaves in your urine and the pile in your joint finally has somewhere to go.
The richest source of it on the planet is a sour cherry. Tart cherry.
A Boston University study followed 633 people with gout. In the 2 days after they ate cherries, their risk of an attack dropped by 35%. With cherry extract, it dropped by 45%.
And you've never heard it from your doctor, because nobody can patent a cherry. No drug company will pay for the big trial on something it can't own, no rep will ever carry it into his office, and it isn't in the guideline he follows.
So if the red in a cherry works on the exit, and the circle through your kidney is what puts men in that chair, why are you still on a plan that only turns down the tap?
THIS BREAKTHROUGH IS PISSING OFF A $136 BILLION INDUSTRY
After Greg's transformation, word spread like wildfire.
My colleague's husband Tom, 46, gout for 14 years, quit allopurinol twice, called my office.
"Rachel, whatever you did for Greg… I'm desperate. My doctor says my creatinine is climbing, and if I won't go back on allopurinol, the next step is a kidney referral and 'we'll see.'"
He hadn't played in his Thursday basketball league in 3 years. His left knee had swollen so badly the winter before that he slept on the couch so he didn't have to climb the stairs. He'd missed 11 days of work that year.
I gave him the same thing I gave Greg.
6 weeks later, he sent me a photo of his lab sheet. Uric acid 5.9, and his creatinine had come down.
"No attacks since the week I started," his text said. "I went to my doctor this morning. He looked at the number twice and asked what I changed. When I told him, he wrote the name down."
Within months, I had former colleagues asking me what I was recommending.
Men who'd been told they were "controlled" and still flared every spring and fall…
A 38 year old firefighter who'd been put on light duty twice in a year because he couldn't get his boot on…
A 44 year old dad who'd quit coaching his daughter's soccer team because standing on a sideline for 2 hours meant 3 days on the couch…
A 31 year old who'd stopped going to the gym because every leg day was a bet on whether he'd be walking on Monday…
Every. Single. One. Got. Better.
Not "managed their attacks" better.
Not "longer time between flares" better.
Actually, measurably, life-changingly BETTER.
WHEN YOU MESS WITH $136 BILLION, THEY COME FOR YOU
Dr. Richard Calloway, chief of rheumatology at my old hospital (and someone I'd considered a friend for 16 years), pulled me aside at a rheumatology conference:
"Rachel, you need to be careful. What you're doing threatens a lot of powerful people. The drug reps are asking questions. The clinic networks are getting nervous. Stop now, while you still can."
I told him to go to hell.
Then came the cease and desist letters.
Three law firms. All representing "concerned medical professionals" who claimed I was "making unsubstantiated claims" and "undermining established treatment guidelines."
Funny how none of them ever challenged the actual results.
The final straw?
My supplier for cold extracted tart cherry, a contact I'd used for my research for 9 years, suddenly couldn't fill my orders for the formula I was developing.
"Sorry Dr. Hayes, corporate decision. Our hands are tied."
They wanted me gone because I'd stumbled onto something that made their entire business model obsolete.
A solution that:
- Fixed the ROOT CAUSE of gout (the shut exit, not just how much your body makes)
- Took 10 seconds each morning (not a food notebook, not a prescription for life, not a lab draw every 3 months)
- Cost less than a single specialist copay a month (not a lifetime of prescriptions, urgent care visits and blood pressure pills)
- Let men stop the attacks from WITHIN (and take the load off the kidneys nobody was watching)
But here's what those medical mobsters didn't count on…
I'd already connected with a small cold extraction lab that believed in the mission.
We'd brought in a third party testing lab to check every batch.
I'd started 31 of my former patients on it.
And we'd turned my formula into something even better.
THE SUPPLEMENT THAT'S TERRIFYING GOUT CLINICS
It's called Cirae Tart Cherry Extract.
It's not cherry juice from the grocery store.
It's not another drugstore capsule with a big milligram number on the front and nothing that matters on the back.
It's specifically made to open the exit.
Here's what makes it different:
COLD EXTRACTED, NEVER HEATED. Heat destroys anthocyanins. Almost every tart cherry capsule is made by drying the fruit with high heat, because it's fast and cheap. By the time it's in a capsule, the red is gone and all that's left is fiber. Cirae is cold extracted, so heat never touches the pigment.
25% ANTHOCYANINS, 60MG PRINTED ON THE FRONT. The "Exit Opener." This is the number every other brand leaves off. I went through our cupboard and found 3 bottles of tart cherry Greg had bought over the years. Not one listed anthocyanins. I emailed all 3 companies to ask. 2 never answered, and the third said it was "proprietary." If they printed it, nobody would buy it.
If you've already tried tart cherry and felt nothing, now you know why.
15:1 CONCENTRATION. It takes 15 parts of tart cherry to make 1 part of this extract. 2 capsules give you the equivalent of 3,600mg of tart cherry, standardized so every serving carries the same 60mg of the compound that works on the exit.
ONE INGREDIENT, CHECKED BY AN OUTSIDE LAB. Tart cherry extract in a vegetable capsule, and nothing else. No sugar, no filler, no blend. Every batch goes to a third party lab before it ships.
2 CAPSULES WITH BREAKFAST. Once a day, with your coffee. No timing it around meals and no food list to follow. The anthocyanins go to work on the exit every morning, and keeping it open every day is the whole job.

Here's what most people don't understand about gout, and what I wish someone had told Greg on Day 1:
The exit didn't shut because of something you did. A handful of genes build the pumps in your kidney that decide how much uric acid leaves and how much gets pulled back. In people with gout, they pull back too much, and they've been doing it since the day you were born. That's why it runs in families. That's why Greg has it, and why his father had it.
It was never the beer, the weight or whatever you've been going over in your head at 2 in the morning.
What you CAN do, and the only thing that actually works, is keep the exit open every single day.
Think of it like brushing your teeth. You don't brush for 90 days, see clean teeth and stop forever. You brush every day BECAUSE that's what keeps them clean.
Cirae works the same way. The anthocyanins keep the exit open every day, so the uric acid keeps leaving and the pile keeps shrinking instead of growing back.
This isn't a flaw. It's the reason it works better than everything else you've tried. Your diet and your pill work on what comes in. Cirae works on the way out.
If you're on allopurinol right now, you can keep taking it. Cirae doesn't replace it. It works on the end your pill never touches, and you can take both.
Here's the timeline most men experience:
Days 1 to 14: The Quiet Phase
The low ache that lives in that joint between attacks goes quiet. Most men notice it in an ordinary moment, walking in from the parking lot, before they realize they haven't thought about their foot at all.
Days 15 to 30: The Twinge Phase
The warning twinges stop. For years a twinge on a Thursday meant a weekend spent waiting for it. Now the weekend just happens. And most men are sleeping through the night again, with the blanket back on the foot.
Days 30 to 90: The Dissolving Phase
The swelling goes out of the joint and walking stops hurting. The number drops under 6.8, so the pile in the joint finally starts dissolving and leaving. The attack you always get after a wedding or a holiday dinner doesn't come. At day 90, get your uric acid and your kidney number drawn, and put them next to your last ones. Greg's kidney number went from 56 to 73.
After 3 to 6 months of daily use:
The 3 AM attacks you've planned your life around? Gone.
The food list on the fridge? Back in the drawer.
The pickup game, the gym, the long run you gave up? Back on the calendar.
Month 6+: The Maintenance Phase (This Is Where Most Men Stay)
Your joints are quiet. Your number is under the line. You eat what everybody else eats, you say yes to the trip without checking your foot first, and you stop thinking about gout.
But here's what every long term user understands. The genes that shut the exit don't change. Stop opening it, and the uric acid starts circling again. The pile starts growing back. Within weeks the twinges can return.
This isn't a defect of the product. This is the biology of gout. It's the same reason a man who stops allopurinol goes right back to where he started.
That's why most men choose the 3 bottle or 5 bottle package. Not because anybody talks them into it, but because after their first season without an attack, they never want to go back to planning their life around one toe.
THE RESULTS THAT HAVE RHEUMATOLOGISTS SECRETLY ORDERING FOR THEIR OWN FAMILIES
Here's what the men who've ordered Cirae told us in our customer survey.
2 out of 3 have had gout for 6 years or more.
The biggest group had already been on allopurinol, and stopped.
Almost all of them were still flaring when they ordered.
And when we asked what they wanted back, the answer we got most wasn't their toe. It was their kidneys.
But here's the number that matters most:
Our refund rate so far: under 1%.
I need to be honest with you about something: This won't work overnight. It isn't a miracle. The first few days you'll probably feel nothing, and you'll wonder if you wasted your money. Don't stop. The exit takes time to open, and the pile in your joint took years to build. Most men notice the ache between attacks going quiet in the first 2 weeks. If you've had gout for 10 years or more, give it the full 90 days.
THE PRICE THAT'S CAUSING PHARMACY PANIC
Let me show you what "managing" gout REALLY costs in America.
Here's the trick nobody tells you. Allopurinol is cheap. A month of the generic costs about as much as a sandwich.
That's exactly why it's the default. The pill was never the expensive part.
The expensive part is everything it doesn't stop:
- The urgent care visit when the attack hits on a Saturday: $150 to $200 a visit without insurance
- The prednisone pack and the naproxen, filtered through the same kidneys that are already losing ground
- The colchicine in the glove box, the lab draw every 3 months, the specialist copay
- The shifts you miss, the jobs you turn down, the 3 days on the couch every spring and every fall
- The blood pressure pill, and then the second blood pressure pill
And the one nobody puts on the bill until it's too late. Dialysis costs Medicare over $90,000 a year for every patient, according to the US Renal Data System. That's before you count the 3 mornings a week in a chair, the work you never go back to and the family that drives you there.
Now here's the math that should make you furious:
Even at the full price of $59.99 a bottle, Cirae is about $2 a day to keep the exit open 365 days a year.
$2 a day vs. a plan that lowers your number while the attacks keep coming and your kidney loses a point a year in a column nobody reads.
And unlike a pill that turns down the tap, this works on the way out. Every single morning, the anthocyanins go to work on the exit, so the uric acid leaves instead of circling back through your kidneys to build the pile again.
The medical industry LOVES the Pill-For-Life Playbook.
Know why?
Recurring revenue.
You're not a patient. You're an annuity. A lifetime prescription, a lab draw every 3 months and a second pill on the way. A customer who never actually gets better.
But here's what really terrifies them…
A bottle made this way should cost a lot more than it does. It takes 15 times the fruit, cold extraction is slow and expensive, and every batch goes to an outside lab before it ships.
Hell, the first batch cost us more per bottle to make than we charge today.
But I didn't create this to get rich off suffering.
I created it because I watched my husband, a man who used to run half marathons and coach 12 year olds on Saturday mornings, sit on the edge of a bathtub with his foot in a bucket of ice water the night before our son's biggest game.
So here's the deal:
The regular price is $59.99 a bottle.
Already less than a single urgent care visit for one attack.
Already less than one month of copays for the specialist who keeps telling you your number looks good.
But that's not what you'll pay today.
WHY I'M RELEASING IT AT UP TO 67% OFF
Remember those cease and desist letters I mentioned?
Well, I just found out that a large clinic network (I won't name them for legal reasons) is trying to file a complaint against our marketing.
They can't copy the formula (the extraction specs are locked down).
They can't buy us out (I told their lawyers exactly where they could stick their acquisition offer).
So now they're trying to bury us in legal fees.
My response?
For the next 72 hours only, I'm releasing packages at up to 67% off.
That's right.
$59.99 → as low as $20 a bottle. That's about 67 cents a day.
You can get the same tart cherry extract that got Greg back on his feet and running with our son for:
- Less than ONE urgent care visit
- Less than ONE month of specialist copays
- Less than dinner for two at a decent restaurant
Why would I practically give it away?
Because every man who gets better is living proof that the system is broken.
Because I want success stories flooding gout groups before anybody can silence us.
Because sometimes the best revenge against a $136 billion industry is helping men actually get better.
⚠️ BUT HERE'S THE BRUTAL REALITY
This discount expires in exactly 72 hours.
Not a marketing gimmick. Our lawyers charge $650 an hour, and this fight won't be cheap.
After 72 hours, it goes back to $59.99 a bottle.
Also, and this is critical, stock is limited.
We make it in small batches, because every batch goes to an outside lab and has to test at 25% anthocyanins before it ships. Demand has been so high that delivery is running 6 to 10 days right now, and when a batch sells out, the next one is weeks away.
That's also why it's only sold on our own website. Search Amazon and you'll find 50 tart cherry capsules with a big number on the front and no anthocyanin number on the back.
If you're reading this, bottles are still available.
But I'm watching our inventory every day, and this batch is going faster than the last one.
Do the math.
MY PERSONAL 90-DAY "COUNT YOUR FLARES" GUARANTEE
Look, I get it.
You've been burned before. We all have.
Money spent on cherry juice, drugstore capsules and "miracle cleanses" that ended up in the back of the cupboard. Promises of a normal life and delivered disappointment.
So here's my promise, and I'm putting it in writing:
Take Cirae for 90 full days.
2 capsules every morning. Give the exit time to open and the pile time to dissolve.
Count your flares. Watch the twinges. Get your blood drawn at day 90.
Feel the ache between attacks go quiet… Notice the weekend you didn't spend waiting for it…
And if after 90 days your flares haven't stopped…
I'll refund your first order in full.
We don't want the bottles back. No forms. No "store credit" BS. No 47 questions.
Just email info@trycirae.com with your order number and the word "refund."
Why am I this confident?
Because our refund rate so far is under 1%.
THE DECISION THAT WILL DEFINE YOUR NEXT DECADE
Right now, you're standing at a fork in the road.
Path #1: Keep Doing What You're Doing
Keep turning down the tap while the drain stays shut.
Keep pressing your thumb into that joint every night to see if it's coming.
Keep skipping the gym, keep buying shoes a size too big, keep calling in sick the Monday after.
Keep letting your kidney lose a point a year in a column nobody reads, the way Greg's did, and the way his father's did.
Keep making your doctor's quarterly allopurinol numbers look good.
Or keep doing what Greg did after he quit it: a diet that moves you 0.4, colchicine in the glove box, and a number back above 8 running the same circle through your kidneys every day.
In 10 years, you'll be on 300mg and 2 pressure pills, with a lab sheet that says urate well controlled. And you'll find out about your kidneys the way Greg's father did, when a doctor starts talking to you about dialysis.
Path #2: Try Something That Actually Works
Spend less than a nice dinner out.
Open the exit that's been shut since the day you were born.
Get under 6.8 and let the pile finally leave.
Stop the circle running through your kidneys, the one nobody has ever looked at.
Join the men who are walking out of the pill-for-life system.
I think you know which path leads to running with your kids next summer.

"Later" is this discount expiring and the batch selling out while you "think about it."

To your freedom from 3 AM attacks and a prescription for life,
Dr. Rachel Hayes, MD Rheumatologist and Gout Researcher Who Finally Figured It Out. Enemy #1 of the Pill-For-Life Playbook
P.S. Greg just sent me a photo from Tyler's game on Friday night. He was standing on the sideline for all 4 quarters, in normal sneakers, yelling at the referee like he used to. The man who sat in the car in a school parking lot because he couldn't walk 200 feet, who soaked his foot in ice water the night before his son's biggest game, is back on his feet. That could be you by next season. But only if you act.
P.P.S. Go and look in the toilet tonight. If there is foam in it that does not clear, call your doctor tomorrow and ask for a urine protein and 4 years of your kidney function on the screen, not just this year's. It takes 4 seconds and costs nothing. I wish someone had asked Greg's father.
P.P.P.S. If you're a rheumatologist reading this and want to attack me, bring it on. I have 19 years of research, 31 former patients and my own husband's lab sheets. The truth is on my side.
P.P.P.P.S. The #1 mistake I see: men feel great after 8 to 12 weeks and stop. Within a few weeks the twinges come back. I watched it happen with Greg the one time he "took a break." The genes that shut the exit don't change, so the circle starts running again. Please don't stop once the attacks stop. The attacks stopped because the exit is open. Keep it open.

First Time Playing Catch With My Son in 3 Years
My uric acid dropped from 9.2 to 5.8 in the first two months. Haven't had a single flare since March. Last weekend I was out in the yard throwing a football around like nothing ever happened. My wife almost cried.

Haven't Thought About My Foot in 9 Months
I used to wake up at 3am with that burning feeling in my big toe. Now I sleep straight through the night. I went on a 4-mile hike last month and didn't think about gout once. That's freedom right there.

My Doctor Asked ME What I Changed
Bloodwork came back and my doctor was shocked. Uric acid went from 8.7 to 5.1, and my kidney number went up for the first time in years. He asked what I was doing differently. I showed him the bottle. Now I'm back coaching my daughter's soccer team every Saturday.

Just got my labs back. Uric acid went from 8.9 to 5.4 in 10 weeks, and my creatinine came down too. My rheumatologist actually wrote it down. This stuff works 💯
Karen Mitchell
Same here Robert! My husband's been on it 3 months now, zero flares. He's back to his morning walks 🙌
Steve Dawson
9 months no flares. NINE. I almost don't want to say it out loud because I don't want to jinx it 😂 but seriously this changed my life. I'm sleeping through the night again and I can wear normal shoes.
Marcus Williams
Alright I was skeptical. Tried allopurinol for 2 years and the side effects were awful. My buddy told me about this and I figured why not. 6 weeks in and my uric acid is already under 6. Capsules are easy to swallow too which is a plus 👍
Tony Ramirez
Bro same! I quit allo after the stomach issues. 4 months on this and I played basketball last weekend for the first time in forever 🏀
Patricia Moore
Ordered this for my husband after his 3rd flare in 2 months. He's been taking it 5 months now and hasn't had one since. He's finally sleeping through the night and can walk the dog again without limping. Thank you 🙏
Greg Patterson
Just reordered my 3rd bottle. UA went from 9.1 down to 4.9. Went fishing all day Saturday, walked around the lake no problem. A year ago I could barely make it to the mailbox. Easy to swallow capsules too, no weird aftertaste 👌
